Closed Bedroom Doors

I’m genuinely not a ghost person and this annoys me because I don’t have a sensible explanation for it.

I was at uni, living with one roommate, and she’d gone home for the weekend. I was in my room watching something with headphones on when someone knocked on my bedroom door three times. Not pipes or like the building settling. More like knuckles on wood.

I assumed my roommate had come back early, so I took my headphones off and shouted “come in.”

Nothing happened.

I opened the door and the hallway was empty. Checked the bathroom, kitchen, front room, everything.

Front door was locked from the inside with the chain on. I remember this specifically because I stood there staring at the chain thinking, okay, fine, weird.

Went back to my room. Maybe ten minutes later: three knocks again.

This time I didn’t answer. Just sat there staring at the door.

Then the handle moved down slowly and I swear I was not hallucinating.

I called my friend and stayed on FaceTime with her until I fell asleep with every light in the flat on. Still don’t believe in ghosts. Also still don’t like closed bedroom doors 😂
